Ranchi: Congress MLA from Jharkhand Irfan Ansari has expressed displeasure over the Karnataka High Court's decision on the Hijab controversy. He alleged that the courts of the country were being run by the BJP. Ansari said in Ranchi that BJP is running the courts in the country and it is creating religious division in the society without any reason.

Ansari was speaking to the media outside the House in the Jharkhand Assembly on the same court's decision. Due to this, he said, "I do not want to comment on the court's decision. However, it seems that BJP is now running the court as well. It is setting a bad precedent." Irfan Ansari, a two-time MLA from Jamtara, is also the former working president of Jharkhand Congress. He has landed in controversy with his remarks in the past as well. Last year, Ansari had praised the Taliban. He said that the Taliban had done a good job by forcing the US to leave Afghanistan.

The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday dismissed petitions seeking permission to wear the hijab in class. The court said that we are of the opinion that wearing the hijab of Muslim women is not a part of the religious practice required in Islam. The bench also said that the government has the right to issue the government order dated February 5, 2022 and no case is made out to hold it invalid. In this order, the state government had banned the wearing of those clothes, which disrupts equality, integrity and public order in schools and colleges.
