Information about frequent theft in trains across the country has been revealed. In this case, Maharashtra has come first in all the states of the country and Madhya Pradesh is on second. Delhi, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu are named in the top-5 states. This has been revealed in the National Crime Records Bureau i.e. NCRB report. Information about Uttar Pradesh is not given in this report. According to the report, more than 74 thousand cases of theft in trains have been registered. About Rs 157 crore worth of property has been stolen. According to the report, crimes in trains in the country have increased by about 45 percent in two years and are increasing.

The report said that in 2017 more than 11 lakh crimes occurred in trains. Among them, more than 70 percent have been cases of theft and robbery. In 2017, a total of 74,317 cases of theft were reported in the railways. Of these, more than 12 thousand cases are related to metro rail. The surprising thing is that during this period, the value of stolen goods or other property has been estimated to be around 157 crores.

Compared to other states, the hill states are quite safe in terms of train travel. Apart from Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, there have been fewer cases of theft in trains in mountainous states like Assam, Tripura.
