Due to the lockdown, everything in the country is closed and people are imprisoned in their homes. Trains are not running, due to which dates are not able to reach different cities of the country. On the other hand, imports from Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries are completely closed, due to which the dates are not coming to India for the last two-and-a-half months. In Ramadan, people will have to do Iftar with dates kept in cold storage instead of fresh dates.

We used to sell around 200 tonnes to 300 tonnes of dates, but in the last one month, even 20 tonnes of goods have not been sold yet. The business has come to a complete standstill due to the lockdown, neither dates are coming from outside nor buyers from outside are coming to Delhi. This month is for the business of dates, But everything is ruined due to corona."
