Due to heavy rains in Mumbai and adjoining areas, water logging was started in many places today and on some routes, the tracks were submerged in water. According to the Mumbai traffic police, under a precautionary measure, a road over bridge in Ghatkopar area has been closed for traffic activity. This was done after seeing a crack in one of its pillars. A Central Railway official said that long distance and local trains pass through the Ghatkopar bridge and it was decided to close it to avoid an incident like a bridge breaking in Andheri last week.

Due to heavy rains in the city and suburbs since last night, water has flooded many roads and in some places, rail tracks are sunk. Also, due to the rain, there is a flood situation in cities like Parel, Dharavi, Matunga and Mumbai's Thane district, including King Circle and Diva, Dombivli, Kalyan and Amarnath.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of 'heavy rain' in the metropolitan areas and neighbouring Thane, Palghar and Raigad districts in the later part of the day. Due to the warning of the Meteorological department, instructions have been given to stop all schools in Mumbai.

Earlier, 107 people stranded in Chinchoti Falls were trapped in Palghar in Maharashtra. Although it was all saved except one. Due to continuous rains, water has been flooded and many places have to use pumps to get water out. Due to this rains, once again the dams have been opened in Mumbai and like every year, Mumbai is facing problems due to very heavy rain.

Also, because of the heavy downpour power shortage is being faced. A spokesperson of the meteorological department, Ajay Kumar, told the news agency ANI that "Konkan, Goa and Mumbai are likely to have heavy heavy rains in the next five days." It seems that in Mumbai, due to rain, the situation may worsen.
