This famous singer kept her marriage secret for three years, her husband was thrown out of India

Monali Thakur is one of the popular singers in Bollywood. She is celebrating her birthday today. Her father Shakti Thakur was a professional singer and actor in Bengali film industry and her sister Mehuli Thakur is a playback singer in Bengal. She has learnt hip-hop and Bharatanatyam and is also a trained salsa dancer. The singer has sung some of the major hits songs of bollywood.
 
 Monali Thakur left eyeryone in shock when she revealed that she has been married to Maik Richter, a Switzerland-based restaurateur, since 2017. She revealed that she kept her marital status a secret as they did not have a conventional wedding. The singer narrating the incidence of marriage once said, “The day Maik was coming to India to do the registration, it was a hilarious episode. We thought we would not get married only. Maik came to India without a visa. Since he had a German passport, some fool told him that he doesn’t need a visa. He was not allowed to enter the country. He was thrown out of India. And I was waiting there in the registration office.”

She further revealed, “Somehow, the Government of India and the Home Ministry helped us a lot. They were so kind. They actually helped us a lot. Like a jail kaidi, he (Maik) was locked up at the airport for the entire day. He was sent back. When he stopped at Abu-Dhabi mid-way, he was brought back by the government. And then, we got married somehow.”

The singer also shared her information about her proposal, “I met Maik during my trip to Switzerland and we clicked instantly. Not just him, I made a connection with his family, too. Maik proposed to me at the exact spot where we had met for the first time, under a tree, on a freezing Christmas Eve 2016. My reply was an instant yes.”

Monali Thakur is the recipient of several awards including a National Film Award for the song "Moh Moh Ke Dhaage" from the film Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015) and a Filmfare Award for the song "Sawaar Loon" from the Film "Lootera" (2013). She has been the judge of Zee TV's singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs 2014.
