Neel Acharya, an Indian student pursuing a double major at Purdue University in Indiana, has been confirmed dead, the university announced. Neel, who went missing on Sunday, was discovered deceased outside Maurice J. Zucrow Laboratories on Purdue's campus. The exact cause of his death remains unknown.

Expressing condolences, Chris Clifton, interim head of the university's Computer Science Department, conveyed deep sorrow for Neel's passing and extended sympathies to his friends and family.

Who was Neel Acharya?
Neel was an Honors Student studying Computer Science and Data Science at Purdue University. His LinkedIn profile, now memorialized, revealed his academic achievements and professional endeavors, including internships at Reliance Jio Infocom Limited and Lydnow Edutech Pvt Ltd. He also won accolades at the Cozmo Clench competition at Techfest 2018-19 hosted by IIT.

Neel's skills included C Programming Language, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Python, and Generative Art. Prior to his disappearance, his mother, Goury Acharya, sought help on social media platforms, indicating that Neel was last seen by an Uber driver who dropped him off at Purdue University.

India's Consulate General in Chicago has pledged support to Neel's family and is coordinating with Purdue University authorities. The investigation into Neel Acharya's death continues as authorities seek answers and justice in this tragic incident.
