Pakistani authorities have already imposed a 10-year ban on hockey player Rashid-ul-Hasan for allegedly using objectionable language against  PM Imran Khan. Rashid has been a hockey player of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic gold medal-winning team.

Rashid considering challenging the verdict: According to media reports, the 62-year-old Rashid has considered the option of challenging the ban in court, categorically rejecting allegations of using objectionable language. He was on Thursday banned for 10 years after the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) criticised  PM Imran Khan on social media platforms over the decline of the game in the country.

The inquiry committee will be formed soon: Where it is learnt that while expressing surprise over the ban, Rashid has said that he is not currently holding any post in the federation. This move is anticipated to raise voices in support of freedom of expression. A PHF inquiry committee was formed to look into the case of whether Rashid had used abusive language by the PM. It is also being said that after Rashid did not respond to the two notices, the committee has imposed a 10-year ban on the directions of PHF chairman Brigadier. A copy of the notification has also been sent to the Standing Committee on Sports of the National Assembly.
