Croatia's Marine Cilic has entered the last 4 of the tournament for the first time by defeating Andre Rublev in the quarterfinals of the French Open. According to media reports, Cilic defeated Rublev 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (10-2) in a match that lasted four hours and 10 minutes on Wednesday at the Court Philippe Chatrier.

After the win, Cilic further said, "Andre played great tennis, but only one of us could have gone ahead. Today was my day. Croatia's Cilic has become the fifth player to reach the semi-finals of all four Grand Slam events. Before which, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Andy Murray are going to do so. Reports say that Cilic will now face world No. 8 Casper Rudd in Friday's semi-finals. Rafael Nadal and Alexander Zverev are going to face each other in the second men's singles semi-final.

Some reports say the BBC quoted Djokovic as saying, "This is not the first or the last time in my career that I have broken the racket. Many times I get my anger out like that. I am working on my mental and emotional health in the same way that I am working on my physical health.'' In the upcoming match, Djokovic will face Casper Rudd of Norway, who defeated Italy's Mateyo Baratini 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5). At the same time, Nadal was defeated by Argentina's Diego Schwartzman 6-2, 7-5 in straight sets from the quarter-finals. This is the first time Nadal has lost against Diego.
