Patna: A police officer was transferred on Friday following a dispute in the House between Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha. In fact, the reason for the tussle between the two leaders was this police officer. According to a notification issued by Bihar's home department, Ranjan Kumar, the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) of Lakhisarai, has been transferred to Areraj in East Champaran district for the same post. In his place, 2018 batch IPS officer Syed Imran Masood has been sent. He is currently posted as SDPO of Danapur in Patna.

In fact, Ranjan Kumar is an officer of the Bihar Police Service. The State Assembly Speaker, representing the Lakhisarai assembly constituency, was upset with the non-cooperation of other police officers including the SDPO. Sinha, who won the election on a BJP ticket, was opposing the police action in a case. When the Budget Session began, the matter was referred to the Privileges Committee.

Lakhisarai falls under Munger Lok Sabha constituency, which is led by Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan, national president of cm's party JDU. The CM also has the home portfolio and a section of BJP leaders is fed up with the fact that even after his diminishing political clout, he has managed to maintain complete control over the police. The CM, while expressing his anger in the Assembly, had told the Speaker that it was against the Constitution. After the dissension with the CM in the House, the Speaker did not reach the House the next day to take over the chair. Subsequently, a meeting was held with the CM on Tuesday night. It is being said that there has been a reconciliation between the two.
