One of the most loved actors in South Industry, Lohithaswa T S, passed away on Tuesday, after a prolonged illness. The 80-year-old died at around 2.40 PM after being hospitalized for over a month. He was hospitalized for the last month after suffering a prolonged age-related illness and did not respond to the treatment. It is believed that he suffered a fatal heart attack while undergoing treatment.

His son Sharath Lohitashwa sharing this news said, "He had recently suffered a heart attack and had developed brain-related issues. Though his other vitals like breathing and BP had improved subsequently, it again started to deteriorate and he breathed his last this afternoon. "

He added, “It will be later shifted to his native village Thondagere in Tumakuru district, where last rites will be performed by the evening,". His mortal remains have been kept at his residence for paying last respects. The last rites will take place at his native village in Tumkur, Karnataka tomorrow.

On Lohithaswa's demise, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai toot to the social media and wrote, "(He) has a permanent place in the hearts of Kannadigas for his voice and mature acting. I pray for his soul. I pray that God gives strength to his family to bear this grief.

On the career front, The veteran actor shared screen space with several veteran actors like Rajkumar, Vishnuvardhan, Shankar Nag, and Ambareesh, to name just a few. Lohithaswa has been a part of around 500 films and also has many plays and serials to his credit.  Some of his noteworthy works include Avatara Purusha, Banda Mukta, C. B. I. Shiva, Chandu, Hello Daddy, Huliya, Pratap, and Police locker,

His popular films include 'AK 47', 'Dada', 'Deva', 'Nee Bareda Kadambari', 'Sangliyana' among others. Television serials include 'Antim Raja', 'Gruhabhanga', 'Malgudi days', 'Natyarani Shantala', among others.
