Gandhinagar: Three candidates from the ruling BJP and two from the Congress will nominate for four Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat today. With this, the way will be cleared for another exciting Rajya Sabha election to be held on 26 March. Today is the last day of enrollment. So far three out of these four seats are in the possession of the BJP and one Congress, but during the last assembly elections, due to the changing equation of the House and the increased number of Congress, both parties initially announced the names of two candidates, but The BJP has also made the election very interesting by announcing the name of the third candidate this morning.

The BJP had earlier fielded Ramila Bara and Abhay Bhardwaj as its candidates, but this morning announced former state deputy CM Narhari Amin as its third candidate. Mr. Amin belongs to the Patidar community and was earlier in the Congress. The Congress party has nominated former Union Minister Bharatsinh Solanki and State Minister and party's national spokesperson Shaktisinh Gohil. If there is no cross-voting then both the parties will get only two seats. The BJP currently has 103 MLAs and Congress 72 MLAs in the 182-member assembly.

Senior BJP leader and deputy CM Nitin Patel said today that the BJP will benefit from the dissatisfaction created due to factionalism of the Congress and not giving Patidar candidates. The party will win all three seats. Mr. Solanki, on the other hand, said that every time BJP trying to buy horse, like in the case of Ahmed Patel, had to face it in the Rajya Sabha elections, it will happen this time too. Not a single MLA of Congress will break.
