LUCKNOW: Ghazipur police in Lucknow have arrested three youths who pretended to be customers and then vanished with the bikes of those who had placed online ads to sell them. Aditya Kumar, 20, Akram, 31, and Lavkush Tiwari, 25, were among those arrested. They were in possession of four high-end motorcycles, which were seized by police.

Several complaints had been received, according to additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP), North, Prachi Singh, of miscreants duping innocent people out of their bikes by posing as buyers.

According to Singh, the criminals created fake profiles on online platforms for buying and selling used items and targeted those who posted ads for high-end motorcycles. "After contacting the owners, they would arrive at their location, take the bike for a test ride, and then vanish," according to the ADCP. The three were arrested from Kukrail bridge on Sunday, according to Singh, based on surveillance and an informer's tip-off. "Efforts are underway to question them, as well as track down other members of their gang and learn what they did after stealing the bikes," Singh said.
