TN Government asks Caste Census Commission to submit report in 6 months

According to the Government Order issued, the caste census commission will collect data pertaining to various social, educational, economic and political parameters of the population of the state. The GO issued by the Tamil Nadu government on Monday has granted six months for Justice Kulasekaran commission to submit its report. The commission was formed to carry out a caste census across the state. 

“The commission will submit its report to the government within six months," said B Chandra Mohan, secretary of Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare Department. Justice Kulasekaran commission alias Caste census commission was formed by the Tamil Nadu Government to carry out the caste census. 

After the PMK protest on demand of exclusive 20 percent reservation for the Vanniyar community the commission was formed. To silence the criticism about the terms of the commission, the government had issued a GO on the terms of reference of the commission in which it has been stated that along with the identification of castes and tribes, the commission shall collect details of migrants domiciled in the state.
