After his appointment, the government made it clear that the CDS would not directly control the command and units of the Army, Air Force, and Navy. But under it, there will be shared command and division of the three parts of the army. The President of India's first three armies, that is, the CDS, will be the head of the Department of Military Affairs under the Ministry of Defense. CDS will be able to contact the Defense Minister directly on issues related to defense matters and can give feedback. All the combined command ie Tri-Service Command of the three armies will now be under CDS. After the Kargil War, the Kargil Review Committee and Naresh Chandra Committee recommended CDS.
