She also set a record by becoming a 6-time world champion. The country's prestige was enhanced in all the respected competitions all over the world. She also won a bronze medal at the Olympics. There was only a little shortage of gold medals, for which she continued boxing even at the age of 38 and worked hard to fulfill his dream. However, this dream has been shattered in Tokyo Olympics.

Six-time world champion MC Mary Kom (51kg) has suffered a setback in the pre-quarterfinals of women's boxing against third seed Ingrit Valencia of Colombia. In the first round, Mary suffered a 1-4 defeat to the Colombian boxer, while in the second round, the Indian boxer made a stunning comeback and won 3-2. However, valencia not only made a comeback in the third round but also clinched the match by 3-2.

Colombia's third seed Ingrit Valencia is the bronze medallist of the 2016 Rio Olympics. Mary Kom had earlier clashed with this Colombian boxer twice and won both, including the quarterfinals of the 2019 World Championships.
