A car fell off an overbridge at Sarna in Pathankot on Pathankot-Amritsar National Highway. The driver of the car lost his life in the accident while another person in the car was seriously injured. The car fell off the overbridge in Pathankot late on Monday evening after being unbalanced due to a strong thunderstorm.
The deceased has been identified as Kailash Chand, 46, a resident of village Sukalgarh. The deceased were posted at Shri Hargobindpur at the post in the Ministry of Water Resources. However, the injured have been identified as Sarbjit, resident of Govindsar.
ASI Hemraj said a case has been registered on the statement of the deceased's wife Sarvabindu. Inquiries revealed that the duo was returning from Malikpur. Heavy rain started on the way. As soon as the car climbed the Malikpur overbridge, it was unbalanced by the strong storm and fell down. The injured Kailash Chand was brought to the hospital but lost his life during treatment. Meanwhile, the injured Sarbjit is undergoing treatment. The body of the deceased has been handed over to the family members after postmortem.
