In Rajkot and Junagadh districts of Gujarat, 16 persons including five women and a child, were killed and 15 others injured in two separate road accidents.

The first incident happened when a truck collided with a bus carrying pilgrims near Junagadh town this morning in which seven persons were killed and 15 others injured.

And, in the another accident nine persons were killed when a jeep carrying 10 persons, including eight members of same family, collided with a truck on Rajkot city outskirts late last night.

D H Bhatt, police inspector of Kuvadava police station, said, "As many as 10 persons were travelling in the jeep which collided head-on with a truck coming from opposite direction. Nine persons were killed, which included four women and a two-year-old boy".

According to J D Pandya, Junagadh taluka police station sub-inspector, "The bus was parked on a road near Junagadh when a speeding truck hit it from behind. All the passengers were seated in the bus when the accident happened,"
