Mumbai: On the eighth death anniversary of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray, his son and Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray paid tributes to him on Tuesday along with wife Rashmi Thackeray and son Aditya Thackeray at the Balasaheb Thackeray memorial at Shivaji Park in Mumbai.

On the other hand, Shiv Sena Party spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has attacked the BJP. He says that we do not need a certificate of Hindutva from any party. Raut further said, 'We do not have to prove our Hindutva by any party. We were Hindutva, and we will always be. We do not practice Hindutva like them. Whenever the country needs us, Shiv Sena will always come forward waving the sword of Hindutva.'

Balasaheb Thackeray, who laid the foundation of the Shiv Sena, was merged into the five elements on 17 November 2012. Today his eighth death anniversary is being celebrated. Balasaheb Thackeray was born on 23 January 1926 into a Marathi family. He was earlier a cartoonist by profession and entered politics in 1960. He later emerged as a stalwart politician. His image has always been that of a staunch Hindu nationalist leader.
