NEW DELHI: The Aadhaar card's governing agency, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), has introduced new services for residents using round-the-clock Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technology.

Customers can access information about their Aadhaar enrolment or update status, PVC card status, or receive updates through SMS at any time by calling the UIDAI toll-free number 1947.

“Resident First Experience new services built on IVRS by UIDAI. Residents can call the UIDAI toll-free number 1947, round-the-clock to find out their Aadhaar enrollment or update their status, PVC card status or receive information via SMS," UIDAI said in tweet.

Users can communicate with a telephone system that is run by a computer using Interactive Voice Response Services (IVRS), a 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week technology. It makes an effort to respond to user inquiries or transfer calls to the appropriate party.

For a better resident experience, the UIDAI has also launched the new AI/ML-based chatbot, "Aadhaar Mitra," which includes functions for checking Aadhaar enrollment/update progress, monitoring Aadhaar PVC card status, and learning the location of enrolment centres. Residents can use the bot to register their complaints and follow up on them.

The regulator also offers a facility that allows someone to update their Aadhaar card's addresses online with the Head of the Family's consent. The residents will soon be able to support one another even if they don't know the names of their spouses or parents.

It has also released a directive known as Baal Aadhaar for children's Aadhaar cards. In accordance with the authority's most recent directive, children who turn five and fifteen must have their biometric data updated in their Aadhaar records.

UIDAI tweeted that updating the biometric information of children between the ages of 5 and 15 is required and that doing so is free of charge.
