KIEV: The Ukrainian Armed Forces currently control approximately 46% of the rebel Donetsk region, where severe fighting is still raging, a military official said.
According to Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Donetsk Oblast Military Administration, 55% of the area under Russian control has been entirely devastated, as he told local media on Wednesday, Ukrayinska Pravda reported.
Kyrylenko stated that Russian troops were "using all the weapons they have at their disposal" despite accepting the fact that the situation is exceedingly complicated throughout the entire frontline of Donetsk.
He said, "Citizens who stay say they either have nowhere to go or don't have enough money to move elsewhere.
The officer added that because of the constant airstrikes and artillery fire, most of the trapped residents in Donetsk are hiding in bomb shelters.
