UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has raised concern about recent airstrikes in Sanaa, Hodeidah, and other parts of Yemen. Guterres also expressed concern about the continuous use of missiles and mortars in several parts of the nation. All of these activities have resulted in human casualties and infrastructure damage, according to spokesman Stephane Dujarric.

At a daily press briefing, the spokesperson said, "The secretary-general reiterates his call on the parties to exercise greatest restraint and prevent any escalation amid heightened tensions in the region, as well as to uphold their obligations under international humanitarian law."

Since 2014, when the Houthi militia overran much of the country and seized all northern provinces, including the capital Sanaa, Yemen has been engulfed in civil war. Since 2015, Saudi Arabia has led an Arab military coalition that has intervened to support Yemen's government.

Hans Grundberg, the UN Special Envoy for Yemen, has recently returned from a visit to Saudi Arabia. He met with Saudi Vice Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, Yemeni Foreign Minister Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak, and other Saudi and Yemeni officials.
