President Droupadi Murmu has approved the resignation of Union Food Processing Industries Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras, according to a statement from Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday. The statement also mentioned that Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju will now take on the additional responsibility of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries.

Paras tendered his resignation on Tuesday, citing "injustice" by the BJP towards his party, Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP), in Bihar's Lok Sabha polls seat-sharing agreement with allies. He made this announcement at a press conference following the BJP-led NDA's decision to allocate five seats to Chirag Paswan's LJP (Ram Vilas), sidelining Paras' faction.

In accordance with the advice of the prime minister, the President accepted Paras' resignation from the Union Council of Ministers with immediate effect, stated Rashtrapati Bhavan. Additionally, upon the prime minister's recommendation, President Murmu has assigned Kiren Rijiju the charge of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries alongside his existing portfolio.
