Alappuzha: 2 party leaders were brutally killed within 12 hours in Kerala's Alappuzha district. One was the leader of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) while the other was a BJP leader. Following these incidents, police imposed Section 144 in the area on Sunday. Meanwhile, Union Minister V Muralidharan on Sunday demanded that the Kerala government take strict action against the perpetrators of the murder of a BJP leader in Alappuzha district.

V Muralitharan said an Islamic terrorist group was behind the killing of BJP OBC Morcha leader Ranjit Srinivasan. Referring to the murder of an RSS worker in Palakkad a few weeks ago, the Union Minister said the state government has not taken any action so far to prevent such cases. "They (kerala government) are taking a soft stand with Islamic terror, which has encouraged the terror groups to commit more violence," the Union Minister said.

In fact, just twelve hours before Srinivasan's murder, Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) state secretary Shan KS was killed on his way home to The Mannachery area of Alappuzha. Police sources said the SDPI leader was attacked while he was returning to his home in Manacheri on his scooter. Police said the attackers in a car first hit Shan KS's scooter badly. Then, when Shan fell down from the scooter, the attackers attacked him several times with a knife and brutally killed him. SDPI has alleged RSS involvement behind Shan's murder.
