Mumbai: There are signs of extending the final year exam in Maharashtra till October. These exams are expected to be held in October. The media report quoted sources as saying that the exam paper will be of multiple-choice questions. The government of Maharashtra may also release its new guidelines for final year / last semester student examination. A meeting of the Vice-Chancellors' Committee has also been held on Sunday in this regard.
The committee has to submit its report to the state government today (on Monday) after discussion. According to sources in Mumbai University, there is a high possibility that the panel may suggest to conduct final year exams online. Also, universities can be asked to talk to college principals about online exam preparation. Apart from this, weightage of digits can also be reduced. A paper can be of 100 marks and can be of one hour.
According to the media report, since the universities have to prepare for the online examination now, the possibility of taking the examinations before September 30 is quite low. State Higher Education and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant has also questioned the unlocked guidelines of the Modi government. He said that when the school colleges are closed till September 30, then how will the final year examinations be conducted. In such a situation, what can state governments and students do?
