Uttar Pradesh: Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has extended the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana until Holi.  The programme provides free rations to the poorest of the poor, referred to as Antyodaya card holders. The scheme, which has benefited 15 crore people in the state since its inception in March 2020, was set to expire in November this year.

The welfare of all, especially the poorest of the poor, is central to Ram Rajya's vision. It stipulates that in times of crisis, the leadership must stand by the poor. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, Prime Minister Anna Yojana did the same. Despite the fact that the scheme was supposed to end in November, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to keep it going In his speech at the Deepotsav function in Ayodhya on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said.

“The state is extending the programme until Holi because, while the number of cases has decreased, the pandemic's misery has not. As a result, the state will continue to provide assistance to the state's 15 million poor families" Yogi Adityanath was quoted as saying.

UP will also provide one litre of cooking oil, one kilogramme of salt, and one kilogramme of sugar, in addition to what was promised in the original scheme (5 kg of rice or wheat per person and one kilogramme of dal per household), according to the Chief Minister.
