US Consul General (Hyderabad) Joel Reefman said his government was interested in setting up a hub in Visakhapatnam. On Tuesday, he met with Consulate officials David Moyer and Sean Ruth to meet Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy at the camp office. Joel Reefman told the Chief Minister that they had visited Visakhapatnam and were very satisfied with the facilities there. Of the cities without consulates, only Ahmedabad has such a hub in the country so far.

CM Jagan welcomed the decision to set up a hub in Visakhapatnam. He urged the US to help Visakhapatnam grow as a smart city. He said it was gratifying that a large number of Telugus were excelling in the United States and playing a key role in the development of the Command. The Chief Minister said that all the necessary infrastructure would be provided for setting up an incubation center in Visakhapatnam.

Jagan said the Consul General should take the initiative to further enhance US-Andhra Pradesh cooperation and work together in that direction. He said that the importance of English language has been recognized and hence it has been decided to implement English medium in all government schools. He said 98 per cent of schools in the state teach in English. He said he plans to train teachers in English. Relo aspired to come along with them in this context.

The CM said that Andhra Pradesh was the most favorable state for investment and the vast coastal area was a great contributor to it. He said that with the construction of ports, special attention has been paid to the field of economic development and electronic products. Therefore, the Consul General should take the initiative to invest in the state, the government will provide full assistance and cooperation. The CM explained that there are good opportunities for investment in the field of infrastructure and electronic products. He asked America to cooperate for the progress of the state.

American Consulates have a hub. It contains all the information about America. In a way it's like a library. Video and audio documentaries are available along with books. Especially useful for students who want to study in America. Anyone can go and find out the information. While the first hub of cities without consulates was only in Ahmedabad, the US is now showing interest in setting up a new one in Visakhapatnam.

Many of the programs and schemes implemented by the state government are revolutionary. Taking the administration to the village level through the village and ward secretariats is commendable. Door delivery of government schemes by volunteers is the best approach. This will not lead to corruption and the brokerage system anywhere. Depositing the benefits of all schemes through direct cash transfer (DBT) into the accounts of the beneficiaries is a reflection of the good faith of the Government. The transparent process continues through things like social auditing. The way the state government worked during Kovid, Kovid management is very good.
