MOSCOW: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the United State does not want the Moscow-Kiev peace talks to be completed quickly, but hopes that Russia remains embroiled in long-term warfare.

"This (negotiating) process will be unprofitable for Americans if it is concluded fast. They want to keep sending arms to Ukraine "During a meeting with students and teachers from Russia's MGIMO University on Wednesday, Lavrov added. "They (Americans) appear to want to keep us in a condition of hostility for as long as possible," he remarked.

The supply of MiG fighter jets and US Stinger man-portable air defence systems to Ukraine will represent "an enormous threat" since they will "certainly spread all across Europe," he said, adding that the US has used sanctions against Russia as a tool to maintain its global supremacy.

"These sanctions are intended to eliminate Russia as a roadblock to the creation of a unipolar global... This is not a discussion on Ukraine. It's about a world system in which the United States aspires to be the lone sovereign" he concluded.
