WASHINGTON: According to US Department of Defense Press Secretary John Kirby, the United State is equally focused on dealing with the threat posed by North Korea as it is on all other significant security challenges.

North Korea launched two short-range ballistic missiles on Thursday, marking the country's sixth missile launch since the beginning of the month.

"Just because one issue is clearly taking the attention of the international community right now doesn't mean we aren't equally pursuing and focusing on other risks and challenges to the country," Kirby said during a press conference.

When questioned why the US was not paying greater attention to the North Korean missile threat, he replied, "And clearly, we are conscious of Pyongyang's disruptive actions with respect to these recent tests."

The North has shot six ballistic missiles in five previous missile launches since the beginning of the year, including the test shooting of two cruise missiles on Tuesday, according to a state department official (Seoul time). UN Security Council resolutions forbid the North from manufacturing or testing any ballistic missile.
