Afghanistan: Usman Ghani, an Afghanistan cricketer, has opted to take a break from the match due to the "corrupt" leadership of the board.

Usman Ghani, the opening batsman for Afghanistan, is dissatisfied with the state of affairs at the nation's cricket board. Ghani has chosen to 'take a sabbatical' from the sport after being passed over for a spot in the team for the forthcoming bilateral series against Bangladesh.

Attacking the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) management, Ghani referred to the executives as "corrupt," adding that the present head selector had given no justification for his exclusion from the team. Ghani said he would like to rejoin the team if the management is changed.

Ghani highlighted the current circumstances in the ACB in a series of tweets. He even admitted that he had made repeated attempts to meet the board chairman but that his efforts had been unsuccessful.

"After careful consideration, I have decided to take a break from Afghanistan Cricket. The corrupt leadership in the cricket board has compelled me to step back. I will continue my hard work and eagerly await the right management and selection committee to be put in place," Ghani said in a series of posts written on Twitter.

"Once that happens, I will proudly return to play for Afghanistan. Until then, I am backing myself from representing my beloved nation. Despite multiple visits, I couldn't meet the chairman as he remained unavailable," he added.

"Moreover, the chief selector had no satisfactory response for my exclusion from all format," he further said.

Ghani has so far played in 17 ODIs and 35 T20 Internationals for Afghanistan. He last participated for his country in the T20I series against Pakistan, appearing in the game on March 27 in Sharjah. His final appearance for the team in an ODI was against the Netherlands in January 2022.
