Lucknow: With one step of UP CM Yogi Adityanath, the cows brought to the police station will not have to go hungry. Fodder has been arranged for one year for cows recovered under illegal business. This step has been taken under the Cow smuggling law. Under this, whoever is caught smuggling cows, the person will arrange fodder for the cows for one year.

It has been mentioned in the new law. Till the time the matter is settled or one year is over, the accused will have to pay for the fodder of the cows. Not only this, if a cow is injured during this time, the accused will also bear the expenses of its treatment. In order to prevent the migration of good cow from UP to other states and to encourage agricultural work, it has become necessary to preserve cow and bovine animals.

Section 8 of the Uttar Pradesh Govt Prevention Act, 1955 (amended) provides for a maximum punishment of seven years for cow slaughter. Cases of getting bail to those involved in the above incidents are increasing. While respecting the expectation of public sentiment for all these reasons, it has become necessary that the cow slaughter act be made more robust, organized and effective. Considering these points, a decision has been taken to amend the present cow slaughter act, 1955.
