Lucknow: Police has been alerted after the case of running more than 13 thousand mobile phones from the same International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. The investigation of the entire episode has been started. Earlier on Thursday, the Cyber Cell of Meerut Police had revealed that more than 13 thousand mobiles are running from the same IMEI number. Earlier, disclosing the entire matter, ADG Rajiv Sabharwal had informed on Thursday that the same IMEI number of more than 13 thousand phones has been found.

According to ADG Rajiv, this information was received only from the officer posted in the zone office. It was told that the department official had his phone repaired. After repair, the IMEI number of his phone was changed. After this, this IMEI number was investigated in the cyber cell in the zone office itself. This investigation revealed that thousands of calls are active on an IMEI number. The ADG said that after investigating the cyber cell, a case has now been registered in the medical station of Meerut. A thorough investigation will be done in this regard. If it is a technical error, it will also be investigated and if there is any other case, strict action will be taken.

He told that IMEI number is an important part of any mobile phone and more than one phone cannot have the same IMEI number. it's a matter of concern. These mobiles are being told by a Chinese company.
