Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government is not in a position to provide any relief to the people who are suffering from the brunt of the price. The Government has made it clear that the GST on LPG is not within the purview of the State Government. At the same time, the revenue has been adversely affected due to corona. There is no proposal to reduce the tax on petrol and diesel in the State. More importantly, the responses from the Ministers in the House also showed that the financial condition of the state was not good.

Congress MLA Qazi Nizamuddin asked the Finance Minister in a short-informed question whether he was aware that inflation in the state was continuously rising. Is the Government considering reducing the State tax on LPG, petrol, and diesel to control it and provide relief to the public? Replying to this, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, who is in charge of the Finance Ministry, said that LPG attracts GST. This can only be done by the recommendations of the GST Council. The State Government cannot do anything about this.

CM Dhami further said that the corona epidemic has negatively affected the revenue of the state government. There is no proposal to reduce State Tax (SGST) on referenced goods (petrol and diesel).
