Subedar Yamuna Prasad Paneru, a resident of Haldwani in Uttarakhand who was martyred in Kupwara, was so fond of mountaineering that he wanted to be associated with it even after retiring. His dream was to prepare the mountain youth to be skilled climbers for mountaineering. For this, he wanted to open a training center. He was also scheduled to come home later this month. Subedar Yamuna Prasad Paneru, a resident of Gorapadaw stationed in Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir, was martyred on Thursday morning during patrolling. He was stationed in the Gurez sector of Kupwara. Until enlisted in the army, Yamuna Prasad did not think that he would hoist the flag of India as a mountaineer by reaching the summit of Everest, the world's highest mountain. Shortly after enlisting in the army, he reached the summit of Everest in 2012, when he got an opportunity of mountaineering. After this, he also hoisted the tricolor on Kanchenjunga and Nandadevi.

In 2013, the Army appointed him as an instructor at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute in Darjeeling, in view of his skilled mountaineering ability. In 2014 Yamuna Prasad also went to Bhutan for training. After coming from Bhutan on the strength of his ability, he took out the commission of JCO and became the Subedar from Havildar. Seeing the love of mountaineering and the possibility of mountaineering training in the mountains, Yamuna Prasad wanted to give Uttarakhand a different identity globally in mountaineering by training the youth after retiring from the army, but before that Yamuna Prasad had only in the lap of the mountains Taking the last breath, made the country proud. Bhuvan Chandra, the younger brother of the martyr, said that Yamuna Prasad returned on October 30 after two months of leave last year. He was due to leave again in April but could not come due to lockdown.

For your information, let us tell you that on June 5, he congratulated Bhuvan on being Bhuvan's son. He was so happy to be a tau that he wanted to come home as soon as possible. And he also spoke about the holiday coming in the last week of June. Three days ago, he called Bhuvan and said that he could not distribute sweets on the naming of the child and could not come to the naming but would soon reach the child. His wife Mamta is shocked after Yamuna Prasad's martyrdom. Mamta and her children repeatedly cry after seeing the photo of Yamuna Prasad and mother Maheshwari Devi has become unconscious. After the death of her husband Dayakrishna Paneru in 2004, she also suffered the shock of the young son's death. Shaheed Yamuna Prasad was a very tactful and courageous person. He never rested when he came home on leave. Along with doing all the household chores, he used to boost the morale of people by telling them courageous stories of mountaineering.
