Badrinath received snowfall after torrential rains, several roads blocked

Dehradun: Heavy rains have created havoc in several states of the country, while Uttarakhand's capital Dehradun is now experiencing cold wave conditions in the morning and night. The weather has become pleasant these days. The sun and clouds are also visible day in and day out. It was cloudy in Dehradun on Friday. The same Badrinath received snowfall on the higher reaches in the early hours of Friday after rain. There has been snowfall on Neel Kanth, Urvashi, Nar-Narayan and mana mountain peaks. Badrinath is now experiencing severe cold wave conditions.

The same Badrinath Highway has been blocked between Selang and Joshimath due to debris. Rain continues in the Uttarkashi district. The Yamunotri Highway has been closed due to landslides near Kalyani and traffic on Gangotri Highway is smooth. On the other hand, the road has been closed since Thursday night due to debris and landslides at several places on the Nagaon-Ponti-Rajgadi motorway.

At the same time, the Ghat-Sutol road connecting remote village Sutol with traffic has been blocked for 5 days due to debris from heavy rains. The villagers of nearby villages including Sutol, Tatda, Sugarh are covering a walking distance of 10 to 15 km due to road blocking. The same was blocked by landslides in Sutol Road Peri Bridge, Panjatonkha and Ufther band due to rain in the Ghat area on September 19, which has not yet been opened. Even after informing the PWD officials, when the road did not open, the villagers themselves tried to remove the debris on the road on Thursday, but the villagers have not succeeded.
