New Delhi: The corona epidemic has created a crisis across the country. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya told the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday that the government has held discussions with vaccine manufacturers and asked them to provide only as many doses as those areas have ordered instead of reserving 25 percent of the total dose to the private sector. This is likely to increase the supply of corona vaccines to the States and Union Territories and promote vaccination at government centers.

In fact, in June, the Central Government revised its guidelines for the ongoing Corona Vaccination Campaign. Facing criticism from several states for their demands for additional doses of vaccines and different pricing of vaccines, the Centre announced that it would buy 75 percent of all Corona vaccine doses manufactured in India from direct manufacturers.

The same guideline stated that several levels of distribution of the corona vaccine will be prescribed in the states. Which includes the spread of population and viral infections. However, the government had allowed vaccine manufacturing companies to direct 25 percent of their doses to the private sector. According to the government, it was done to "encourage production by vaccine manufacturers and encourage new vaccines," besides taking care of the convenience of the people so that they can get vaccinated in private hospitals if they wish.
