The Kalasha, a sacred pot, is coated with fragrant sandalwood paste and filled with an assortment of symbolic items, varying across different regions. Raw rice, coins, turmeric, and leaves are placed within the pot, followed by the drawing of a 'Swastika' symbol.

Mango leaves embellish the Kalasha, while a turmeric-smudged coconut is used to seal its opening. The puja commences with the worship of Lord Ganesha, recitation of sacred slokas, performing arati, and presenting sweets to the deity. Yellow threads are tied around women's wrists, and heartfelt gift exchanges take place.

The distribution of boiled legumes, pongal (a traditional South Indian dish), and jaggery-based sweets follows. Devotees complete the rituals on Saturday and, after taking a bath, dismantle the Kalasha. Observing Varalakshmi Vratam is believed to usher in peace, prosperity, and financial well-being.
