Lucknow: An important hearing is to be held in the district court on Friday (October 14) in the controversial Gyanvapi Shivling Carbon Dating case in Varanasi, the city of Baba Vishwanath. The court is expected to pronounce its verdict today on the carbon dating of the Shivling found during a survey on the Gyanvapi campus. It was demanded by the Hindu side, to find out how ancient the Shivling found in Gyanvapi is.

Four of the five Hindu petitioners had sought to carbon-date of the Shivling shape before a local court in Varanasi. The figure was found within the Gyanvapi campus during a videography survey conducted on the court's order. The Hindu side is considering it a Shivling and the Muslim side is calling it a fountain. To find a solution to this, the Hindu side has demanded carbon dating of the Shivling, so that if the exact age of that shape is known, then it will be clear whether it is a Shivling or a fountain.

What is carbon dating?

Carbon dating is a scientific process, which is commonly used in archaeology to comprehend the age of an object. However, the Gyanvapi Mosque Committee is opposing the plea for carbon dating. In the last hearing, the court had allowed carbon dating's plea. The Hindu side had also described this as its victory. The Varanasi court had earlier heard the Muslim side in connection with the case.

At that time, lawyer Vishnu Jain, representing the Hindu side, had said, "The Muslim side is saying that the Shivling is not part of the suit property and its carbon dating cannot be done." We have presented our explanation on both these points. The court has to decide. Before this important hearing, the reaction of senior RSS member Indresh Kumar has also come to the fore. He said that it will be late, but the truth will come out.
