Continuing his impressive form, India's budding swimmer Vedant Madhavan has clinched a gold medal in the men's 800m freestyle event at the Danish Open in Copenhagen. The sixteen-year-old Madhavan also took out the timing of 8:17.28, giving his personal best. He defeated local swimmer Alexander L. Bjorn by 0.10 seconds.  

Vedanta may have won a gold medal in this event, but it is far behind the international level. Robert Finke of the United States, who won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, also took a time of 7:41.87. The world record is 7:32.12. Vedant, son of famous actor R Madhavan, however, has improved his performance a lot. His performance has started getting better tournament by tournament.  

Prior to which he won a silver medal in the 1500m freestyle and has corrected his timing in the 200m freestyle. India's veteran swimmer Sajan Prakash has moved up to 5th position in the men's 100m Butterfly A final with a time of 54.24 seconds. At the same time, Tanish George Matthew C topped the final with 56.44. The top eight swimmers of the Heats are qualifying for the A final. Descend in the next 8B and his next 8 in C. In the women's category, Shakti Balakrishnan slipped to 34th position among 42 swimmers in the 200m freestyle. India has 2 gold and one silver medal so far in this tournament.
