India is a country  which experienced a series of great tragedies in the last century, will perhaps never forget the one that happened on the day of Baisakhi, April 13, 1919. he Jallianwala Bagh massacre, which came barely months after the Armistice on November 11, 1918 ended World War I in Europe, occurred as undivided Punjab was struggling and in ferment. It is eave a scar - a glaring reminder of the hurt - that simply doesn’t fade away. It has been 100 years since the lynchpin of colonial brutality was enacted but the wounds simply refuse to heal. Now, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will pay homage to martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh massacre on the centenary of the gruesome incident at the Jallianwala Bagh Memorial, in Amritsar, Punjab tomorrow.

The event is marked to observe the centenary of the massacre in which hundreds of innocent men, women and children were killed by Brigadier General Reginald Dyer, during a peaceful meeting at the park on 13th April, 1919.

Naidu will release a Commemorative Coin and Commemorative Postage Stamp.  He will also visit an Exhibition on the massacre organised by the Bureau of Outreach and Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at the Memorial.
