Top tennis player and seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams is also set to be given a wild card entry into the main draw of next month's National Bank Open. Venus will play in Toronto for the first time since 2019 and will return to singles on the WTA Tour for the first time since August 2021.
The former world number one and five-time Wimbledon champion last played in the mixed doubles of Wimbledon earlier this month where she paired up with Britain's Jamie Murray. Venus is a 41-time WTA singles champion and Olympic gold medalist. Her sister Serena Williams was part of the official draw of the Toronto Open released last week.
It was reported that Serena and Venus Williams of the United States are not included in the list of entries in the Wimbledon singles category. It is possible that either of the two is requesting entry through a wild card into this Grand Slam starting June 27. Serena has won seven of the record 23 singles titles in the Open era at the All England Club and the last time she became a champion was in 2016.
