HONG KONG: Two former Cathay Pacific flight attendants were arrested and charged on Tuesday with breaking local anti-Covid-19 epidemic rules. According to sources, the two individuals landed in Hong Kong from the United States on December 24 and 25, 2021.
They had engaged in unnecessary activities on December 25 and 27, in violation of Hong Kong's Prevention and Control of Disease Regulation, while in medical quarantine.
They were both diagnosed with the Omicron variant of Covid-19 and were discharged from the hospital after finishing their therapy. In contravention of the regulations, the couple allegedly visited acquaintances and dined in eateries, causing community transmissions. The two people, who have been released on bail, will go on trial on February 9 in separate courts.
Anyone who violates the Prevention and Control of Disease Regulation will be found guilty and sentenced to six months in prison and a fine of HK Dollar5,000 (USD640).
