Lucknow: A Dalit family in a village in Mathura district, amidst the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, has alleged that they were attacked by some people for voting for the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Sunday and they have lodged a complaint with the police. The Dalit family says they were attacked in their house for voting for the BSP. However, police say the incident has nothing to do with the election. However, following the complaint, an FIR has been lodged against seven people of the village and further action is being taken.

The Dalit family says that on the day of voting, they voted of their own free will. But some people attacked them because they had voted in favour of the BSP. After which some people attacked their house. He said a police complaint has been lodged about it. However, the police are saying that we had received information that a house was attacked by some miscreants on Sunday. The FIR has been lodged on the basis of a complaint lodged by the family. The FIR said that the accused had objected to voting for a party and the attack was followed by the invasion. Police said that during the investigation in the case, it was revealed that the assault was over a cricket match and it has been linked to the election. Police said that further investigation is underway, strict action will be taken against whoever is guilty.

Police also said they had video statements of the family, which denied that the incident was election-related. However, the Dalit family has alleged in its FIR that seven people barged into their house and assaulted them, saying they were assaulted for voting for the BSP. Because they voted not for the party of the accused, but the election symbol 'elephant'. The Dalit family said they were asked to support them by the accused. However, it is not clear which party the attackers who attacked the Dalit family were themselves supporters of.
