New Delhi: Preparations have begun for the third phase trial of coronavirus indigenous vaccine 'Covaxine'. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has advertised to enrol volunteers seeking the third phase of the trial. According to this ad, all interested volunteers can apply by December 31.

Yesterday the good news about covaxine surfaced. During the trial, the vaccine gave safe and immunogenetic results to people in each age group, and it did not see any serious adverse effects. Covaxine produced cell mediate immune response. More than the first phase trial of the indigenous vaccine covaxine, phase-II trials have seen good results (antibodies) in people, based on new data.

The indigenous corona vaccine covaxine has been developed by Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech in collaboration with ICMR and Pune-based NIV.  As per the company, covaxine is completely safe. The vaccine is being produced at the BSL-3 bio-entertainment facility in Bharat Biotech. A few days ago, DCGI was asked to allow emergency use of covaxine.
