Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has courted a controversy for allegedally ordering to 'shoot mercilessly', the murderer of a local leader of his Janata Dal (Secular) party, as ANI reported. In video clip shot by local journalists, the Karnataka CM is heard asking questios 'who killed' (Prakash), the local party leader and then ordering to 'kill the miscreant mercilessly'.
The video has gone viral on social media and it was also used by Karnataka unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to take on Kumaraswamy's JD(S)- congress led government who was creating 'anarchy' in the state.
"CM HDK orders for anarchy & lawlessness by giving direct order of shootout on camera!! A clear case of provoking& instigating the system Earlier he had called to create anarchy by openly calling for violence. Complete chaos & dictatorship in Karnataka Highly condemnable act!!" stated Shobha Karandlaje, a BJP MP from Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency.
However, CM Kumaraswamy rejected all the allegations and stated that it was not an order he passed as a Chief Minister, but, instead, an emotional outbreak. "It (kill assailants mercilessly) was not my order, I was emotional at that moment. they (killers )are the reason for two murders and they were in jail. they came out on bail 2 days ago and killed another person(JDS leader Prakash), this is how they are misusing bail," CM Kumaraswamy was quoted as saying by the news agency ANI.
