Bengaluru:  With less rainfall last year and now rising mercury, the water crisis in Karnataka's capital Bengaluru has increased manifold. People are yearning for every drop of water. Water tankers are seen running on the city streets. In difficult circumstances, schools have been closed and coaching centers have also declared emergency and asked students to take classes virtually.

Water is being supplied through tankers to CM residence: Reports say that the situation is such that water is being supplied to CM Siddaramaiah's residence in the capital through water tankers. However, the government has also said that necessary steps will be taken soon. The year 2023 saw less rainfall due to El Nino effect. In such a situation, the water crisis has deepened in Karnataka including Bengaluru. The situation is that in Karnataka 123 have been declared drought affected and 109 are seriously affected.

Price of water tankers skyrocketing: Due to water problem, the price of water tankers which were available for Rs 700 to Rs 800 on normal days, has reached Rs 1500 to Rs 1800. State Deputy CM DK Shivakumar has said that the borewell of his residence in Sadashivnagar near Sanki Lake has dried up for the first time. He has said that he is taking the case seriously.

Water will be supplied through milk tankers: He announced that private tankers and private borewells will be taken over by the government to meet the water demand in the city. Even water is going to be supplied through milk tankers. He has said that the government has also started considering fixing the rate for water tanker. For this, it has also been decided to set up a control room at the taluk level and issue a helpline number.
