NEW DELHI:   Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the BJP's historic victory in the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) elections and pledged that the party would continue to strive for Assam's prosperity.

"Historic results in Karbi Anglong!" Modi wrote on Twitter late Sunday. I appreciate the people's continued faith in the BJP and tell them that we would continue to strive for Assam's progress. The BJP Karyakartas have made noteworthy contributions. "Congratulations to them." "We bow before the people of Karbi Anglong for delivering @BJP4Assam a historic mandate in KAAC polls for the 2nd time in a row," Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted earlier in the day. This massive victory is a true reflection of popular trust in Adarniya PM Shri @narendramodi ji's vision of Sabka Saath Sabka Vishwas, following wins in urban body and GMC polls. 

This unprecedented mandate has placed an even greater on us to live up to the public's expectations. We'll fight for the entire progress and development of Karbi Anglong under the leadership of Adarniya PM, Adarniya HM Shri @AmitShah ji, and Adarniya @BJP4India Adhyaksh Shri @JPNadda ji." The BJP dominated the KAAC elections on Sunday, capturing all 26 seats in the tribal body for which voting took place on June 8.

Notably, the BJP candidates won all 26 seats, according to the State Election Commission, while Congress came in second in the majority of the seats. The BJP, which ran for all 26 seats, received 2,25,999 votes, while the Congress received 60,760 votes for 24 seats and the Aam Aadmi Party received 15,513 votes for ten seats.
