NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the BJP's historic victory in the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) elections and pledged that the party would continue to strive for Assam's prosperity.

The BJP dominated the KAAC elections on Sunday, capturing all 26 seats in the tribal body for which voting took place on June 8.
Notably, the BJP candidates won all 26 seats, according to the State Election Commission, while Congress came in second in the majority of the seats. The BJP, which ran for all 26 seats, received 2,25,999 votes, while the Congress received 60,760 votes for 24 seats and the Aam Aadmi Party received 15,513 votes for ten seats.
