Heavy rain to hit Uttarakhand, Met Office warns

Dehradun: In Uttarakhand, the Met department has issued a warning for heavy rain for the next 36 hours. Heavy rains have also added to the woes of the mountain dwellers in the state. The Met Department has predicted severe rain warning in Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh, Udhamsinghnagar, Dehradun, Haridwar and Pauri Garhwal districts for the next 36 hours.

In view of the Met Department warning, the government has issued instructions to all districts to maintain extra vigil. It is raining right now in many districts of the state. In Uttarkashi, the Yamunotri National Highway, Ojri Dabarkot is being disrupted due to continuous heavy boulders and debris, as well as the Gangotri National Highway being disrupted by landslides caused by rains in Badathi from Uttarkashi.

Several rural roads have been closed due to rain in the state, disrupting normal life of local people. In Dehradun's Chakta, Tunis region, villagers are struggling with drinking water and health facilities. In Dehradun, the capital city of the state, rain has caused waterlogging in several areas. The water level of the rivers is continuously increasing.
