New Delhi: Due to snowfall in the hilly areas of the country, cold has increased in the plains states. In Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, the mercury went below zero in many places, while the cold of December has started showing colour in the northern states. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the night temperature in North India can fall from 3 to 5 degree Celsius in the next two-three days.

According to the Meteorological Department, the cold wave may increase in the country's capital Delhi and the neighbouring state of Punjab. The cold conditions will remain in Haryana, Chandigarh and North-West Rajasthan with the drop in temperature. Due to the fall in temperature, the effect of fog is seen in most areas of North India. Even in Maharashtra, there is a feeling of cold like the hill states.

According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature of most of the states of North India can fall by two to four degrees Celsius. Whereas between 16 and 18 December, rains are expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep. Cold has increased in the country's capital Delhi, along with the maximum temperature has come down. According to the meteorological department's forecast, today (15 December 2020) the maximum temperature can reach 21 ° C, while the minimum mercury can fall by 4 °.
