New Delhi: Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) often remains in the headlines due to controversies along with studies. Now JNU has cancelled a webinar on Kashmir. Actually, this online program was organized by the Center for Women's Studies (CWS) in which the author Ather Zia was going to speak. But the people of ABVP came out against this webinar.

A notice related to the webinar was put up on Friday. It is written that 'This conversation will draw attention to the history of gender-based protests in Kashmir. The new challenges that have arisen in Kashmir after the year 2019 and the impact on the women and common people there will also be discussed.' Let us tell you that the name of the book of author Ather Zia is also 'Registering Disappearance.' She is a Professor of Anthropology and Gender Studies at UNCO Greeley, USA. Jawahar Lal Nehru University VC M Jagadesh Kumar said in his statement that, 'As I have come to know that Center for Women's Studies was organizing an online webinar which was about the new challenges and women in Kashmir. The administration directs the faculty members to cancel this program immediately.'

He also said that the faculty had not taken any permission for this programme. He said, 'This is a very controversial and provocative subject. This topic also raises questions on the integrity of the country. JNU cannot be a platform for such webinars. The matter is being understood more properly.' There was also a ruckus on social media regarding this event. ABVP workers burnt the posters of the webinar.
