PV Sindhu stormed into the Semifinals of the Tokyo Olympics with a straight-game victory against Akane Yamaguchi of Japan 21-13, 22-20 to move into the semis. The Rio Olympics silver medallist is just one win away from winning her second medal at the Games, a feat not achieved by any Indian woman so far.

The first game was more close than the scoreline suggested and Sindhu had to bring out the best in her to win it 21-13. The scoreline in the first game might not indicate how closely it was fought, but Yamaguchi made her fight for every point. The star Indian shuttler made her way to the semi-finals.

If Sindhu wins in the semifinals and loses in the final, she will be awarded a bronze medal match. Let us see who she faces in the semifinals.
